Disney Half Marathon

Last weekend Tim ran the Disney Half Marathon.

13.1 miles! I still can't believe it.
He trained for months and he completed it with a smile on his face.

It was a little difficult getting pictures with 18,000 runners but I saw him at mile 4 and after he crossed the finish line.

I tried to sneak a picture of him getting his medal :)

He already signed up for another one in January.

I'm so proud of him!

Throwback Thursday and a Thank You.

This was taken in February 2010 and we had been dating for 5 months. I feel like we were babies! It's crazy that this year will be our 5 year date-iversary. Marriage has had it's rough patches but I wouldn't trade it for anything else.

---------------------------------

Also, I wanted to thank everyone who reached out to me after yesterdays post. I was overwhelmed with the response that I got and the number of texts, phone calls, emails, and facebook comments. I had that post written months ago but never knew if I should post it. I'm so glad I did. Not only do my friends and family have a better understanding of our situation, we've received so many kind words and I've had the opportunity to hear the experiences of others. It all means so much and I love each and every one of you for taking the time to read and reach out.

This time it's only for a week but I sure do miss him a lot. I'll be counting down the days and I'm sure Linus will be too.

4 yrs.

Today marks 4 years of being a couple.
I can't even believe it. It feels like we've known each other forever.
In the past, 4 years was an eternity and now it's just going way too fast.
It's confusing, I know.

These are actually the first 2 pictures we ever took...

Happy Four Years of Being "Us"!

The Basket.

Easter Baskets

Strolling up and down the aisles at Target has been a little challenging the last month. Picking up cute plastic eggs or bunny shaped candy only to put them back down and walk away. You see, I'm a holiday fanatic. Growing up my Mom made holidays very special for us and Easter baskets were always one of my favorite surprises. The last couple of Easters I've made Easter baskets for Tim and his response to them was shall we say...lack luster. Don't get me wrong, he appreciated the thought but c'mon, it's kind of a kid thing. I'm just so very eager to pass on traditions that I had growing up and to mold my traditions with his and make our own for our family (and that includes the Lopez Cheeseball that I still need to work on).

It was tough, but not even Linus got a basket this year!

2 days.

I dropped Tim off at the airport bright and early this morning and he's probably half way to New York by now. Now Linus and I just have to make it through two nights without him and I'll be boarding a plane myself!

I better start packing!

date night.

Last night we had a much needed date night.
A trip to the mall and a nice dinner was just what we needed (the cupcakes we took home were the perfect touch).

Before dinner we stopped in H&M and bought coats for our New York trip ( 13 days!!!).

I'm so excited to be able to wear mine!

New Coats

And of course no outing is complete without returning to a mess from our fur son who is kissing himself in the mirror at the moment.

The 2nd surprise from him isn't something you want to see...or smell...

One Year Down.

Our first anniversary was a huge success!
The boy surprised me with the sweetest gifts and I don't think they'll ever be topped.

I walked into the bedroom to find tons of Polaroids ( 99 to be exact) from our entire relationship strung around the room!

I would have been perfectly pleased with that but he had to go and out do himself with a book of our  love story complete with cute stick figures depicting our first meeting to dates and our wedding. I'll be dedicating a whole post to the book soon because it is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. All of the small details he put into it are just the best!

I felt a little silly giving him my gift after this but he still loved it :)

We spent the day relaxing at Glen Ivy Hot Springs. Lounging by the pools and getting a aloe vera moisturizing treatment in The Grotto. I don't know if I'm a fan of all those fancy spa treatments. I felt a bit awkward. They send you down in an elevator to a dark cave area where we were met by two girls who "painted" the concoction on us. I use "painted" loosely because they kinda just slop it on all over you. After that you head to another part of the cave to let it soak in and its like a million degrees in there. I couldn't last the whole 10 minutes because I thought I was going to die. After that you head to these little cave like showers to wash off. Let me tell you, that was no easy task! Imagine being covered in tons of the thickest lotion ever and trying to rinse off. Next you enter the last part of the cave where it is cool and quiet and you're supposed to relax with tea and a crisp apple. I left feeling a bit puzzled but Tim couldn't stop talking about how refreshed and soft he felt.

After that we took a dip in the pool and were having a great time till Tim stops mid sentence and orders me to go under water...After telling me several times I finally do but just a second too late because the bee that was on my shoulder already decided to make me his victim. My husband came to the rescue and pulled the stinger out quickly. We decided to get out and dry off thinking this was a sign it was time to head home and I see a low flying bird heading towards me in slow motion already starting his business and it lands right on my foot. Okay, now that's the sign we need to head home.

After a lovely dinner and picking up the fur kid from Grandma and Grandpas we went home to our partially defrosted wedding cake. It actually wasn't as bad as I was expecting. We took a couple bites and called it a night.

All in all it was a very successful first anniversary!

Year One.

It seems like just yesterday we were getting ready for the biggest day of our lives and today marks one year of being married to my best friend.

We've had our ups and downs but we made it and I can't wait for the next 70 years together.

Tim, Thanks for putting up with me for a whole year :)

Yippeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

New York City, Here I come!!!!

Oh my goodness you guys! I've always wanted to go to New York and I finally get to go!!!

Tim has a convention thing for work at the end of October and I get to fly out and join him when it's over! So that means 3 things that I've always wanted will happen:

1. Visit New York
2. Visit New York in Fall (What's more romantic than a stroll through Central Park with the colorful leaves!?)
3. Take an airplane trip on my own. What an adventure!

Alright, you New Yorkers and fellow travelers, what do I need to see, where do I need to eat, what do I need to pack!

Birthday Recap

Wednesday: I woke up still feeling sick so we took it pretty easy. Not 2 minutes after opening my eyes I was greeted by husband and puppy and a pile of presents in bed. Tim gave me a lot of amazing things! After getting ready my family came over and I got even more amazing gifts and we all went to lunch.  We came home to our two mint chip ice cream cakes (I guess I shouldn't have bought myself one :x ) and played with my stuff.

I made these party hats just so we could take one decent picture. Linus was being pretty difficult so every picture it looks like we are strangling him.

My sister made this cute Instagram collage for me

This year I got the perfect combination of practical gifts to help me with Doe Eyed Dear ,like an awesome craft desk and a little photo shoot studio with backdrops and lights, and toys.

Yes, toys! Ever since I saw Sophie the Giraffe I've wanted her. Who cares if she's a babys chew toy!? I think its the most adorable thing ever and Tim bought her for me!

And, are you ready for this?

My parents and my sister went in together and bought me a BLYTHE DOLL! Eeek!!! I still can't believe I own one. I pretty much spent the rest of the day looking at her and googling how to customize her! I cant wait to start!

(And yeah, thats a mannequin head in the background)

Thursday was Tim's birthday so I decided to bring him his presents in bed too! After opening gifts we  decided to go hit some balls at the driving range

Then we went to Yardhouse for lunch where he had this ridiculously tall beer and was a happy camper. After a little nap and some more ice cream cake he decided that he LOVES golf and we went to another driving range!

I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty impressed with this driving skills. I'm a pretty good instructor :)
His last request for the day was sushi and who am I to say no to the birthday boy!?
I actually found a roll that I liked!!! Cross that off my 30 by 30 list!

We had a great two days and the celebration continues Monday when we go to Glen Ivy Hot Springs!
