Beach Camping

Tim has been wanting to go camping so we decided to do a small one nighter in Carlsbad before we decide to brave the actual wilderness. We had a prime spot and the weather was great! Nothing better than a campfire at the beach with your honey. I was super excited to sleep in the tent on our new air mattress but we both had a hard time sleeping. I guess that's to be expected though. It was still a nice little getaway. Now here's a bunch of pictures!

We worked great as a team setting up and taking down everything so I think we're ready for the big leagues!

Summer Lovin'

In these last couple of weeks we've done more than we did the whole summer.

I've really been horrible at taking pictures but I thought it was time for a summer iPhone Photo Dump!

I feel like I've missed so much! Sometimes I get too caught up in having fun that I forget to take pictures. I've been thinking about taking a photography class just so I could get the basics down but I haven't been able to find one that works for me. Any suggestions in the Southern California area?

This has been one of "those" weeks. You know the type.

A great day followed by 3 really ugly days just in time for another awesome day.

It was a roller coaster I tell ya!

Depression made itself known this week. It snuck in without any warning and hit me straight in the face, and the stomach, and most of all the heart. It was rough not only on me, but on my husband who sometimes has to bear the weight of it when I can't. It's a really special thing to have, a husband who loves you so much he'll pick you up and keep going when you don't think you can go any longer.  I am truly blessed to have him in my life.

Today was a great day and as I get ready for bed and think (and even worry a little) about what next week holds I got a reminder on my phone saying that I hadn't completed my daily devotional. It was on depression. Oh hey not so subtle hint!

Turns out it was just what I needed. He works in powerful, mysterious, and sometimes smack you in the face obvious ways. 

" Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." 

Isaiah 40 30-31

Fair with Friends

A couple of weeks ago we went to the OC fair with some of our Life Group friends. 

We had so much fun!

We even managed to get photo booth pictures with all 6 of us!

We also saw the worlds largest steer... he was pretty scary

No trip to the fair is complete without some crazy food!

We're so blessed to have such an awesome group of people in our lives!

A Hot and Cold Weekend

This weekend was hot and humid followed by dark, gloomy with a cold wind and light rain.

Monsoons are the best.

Even better was the feeling of fall. Dark clouds, cool air, and the smell of rain.

Fall is definitely my favorite and I'm holding out a lot of hope for that season.

No pressure, man.

It feels like we spent the whole weekend running errands. Saturday I had to go to several places to pick up supplies for some orders I'm working on. I cant forget the stop at the cupcake shop. I tried a "Love Bunny" which is carrot cake with a pineapple cream cheese frosting. I was so full from lunch but you better believe I finished that bad boy in the Joanns parking lot.We also did some major grocery shopping. Have I mentioned that I HATE grocery shopping. Once I get in those doors I'm on a mission to get everything on my list as fast as possible ( I usually forget something).

Sunday we ran more errands like Costco and a specialty market for some Pepita nuts and Coconut milk. We were also on a mission to find Twinkies. We went to 3 stores together and the boy went to 5 all together with no luck. I don't even remember the last time I had a Twinkie but those little suckers must be delicious.

I also made the decision to change the name of my shop. Doe Eyed Dear has been good to me but I'm hoping Jenna Leslye Designs will be even more successful. I have lots of ideas in the works.

Palm Springs Getaway

The last couple of days were spent in Palm Springs for a little getaway.

My husband works so hard and its almost necessary for him to take a little trip every once in awhile so he can clear his head. 

On the way there the temperature just went up and up and up.

I think 112 was the hottest I caught.

We stayed at the Desert Springs Marriott. My family would stay there when I was little and it's also where Jessie Spanos dad got married on Saved By The Bell.

We pretty much spent a whole day and a half sitting in the pool. It was the only place to be

We also enjoyed a nice fluffy bed that didn't have a rambunctious puppy in it!

I was most excited to see the Forever Marilyn statue right in Downtown Palm Springs.

We caught her right before she went to another city.

Tim has been wanting to go to a fancy dinner since....forever.

It was so fun getting dressed up and eating at one of the fanciest restaurants we could find.

We caught the last boat tour at the hotel before heading to dinner.
